From the monthly archives:

May 2010

As the week begins to roll around to a close, I feel a certain sense of completion segueing into a natural state of reflection and then giving way into more planning, due to the release of the new Mother/Father EP, Physical Heaven.

On Tuesday we said we would be adding more stores to the availability of Physical Heaven daily, so we’ve got two more stores to add to our list: iTunes and Amazon.

You will find Physical Heaven on iTunes here: Buy Physical Heaven on iTunes

You will find Physical Heaven on Amazon here: Buy Physical Heaven on Amazon

You will always find the primary places to purchase any and all Mother/Father releases here: ThisIsMotherFather.Com/Purchase

Another Review
And Dave Miller steps in with another fan review of Physical Heaven. You will find that here: Mother/Father “Physical Heaven” on foxy digitalis

NOTE: this is NOT the same David Miller that plays drums in Mother/Father. Want to make that perfectly clear.

Thanks to the fans for all these great reviews. We’re really enjoying reading them, and are humbled by the praise.

Cheers!

Physical Heaven Reviews

by stinson on May 19, 2010

As Physical Heaven was released yesterday, a handful of reviews on the new Mother/Father EP came in. Some went live in the weeks prior to the release, and some went live yesterday. Here’s a collection of these reviews…

From the Fans
In the weeks leading up to the release of Physical Heaven we worked with Mother/Father to reach out to their fans, asking them if anyone would be interested in writing a review in exchange for an advanced copy of the new EP. Here is the first wave of reviews from those fans which responded (click on the names to read the reviews):

Charles Kingma

Ryan Montez

Kelly Eng

Levi Watson

Around the Web
Physical Heaven also picked up some reviews from a few other music blogs in recent days:

largehearted boy: Daily Download from May 11th

JP’s Blog: New Artist: Mother/Father Releasing New EP “Physical Heaven”

Cause=Time: Mother/Father

Perfect Porridge: Tennessee collective Mother/Father release Physical Heaven today

Backseat Sandbar (actually a review of Mother/Father w/ Phoenix): REVIEW: Phoenix w/ Mother/Father @ The Palace 4/22

Thanks for being fans of Mother/Father, for your support of the band, and for your help in promoting them.

Cheers!

Physical Heaven Now Available

by stinson on May 18, 2010

We’ve been looking forward to the release date of the new Mother/Father EP, Physical Heaven for months. Well that date has arrived. And yeah, we ended up picking the same release date as the new Band of Horses record, but hey that just means if you’re a Band of Horses fan, you can throw on a little extra celebration by buying Physical Heaven too.

Physical Heaven is now available for purchase through our online store, Radical Notion Digital, with more stores – both online, and off – being added daily.

And to help us kick it off, Spinner is throwing a Physical Heaven listening party all week here: http://www.spinner.com/new-releases#/14

The EP comes as a download in your choice of multiple file formats, or in CD format (which includes the download as well).

Click on over to Radical Notion Digital for the full details and to purchase: Purchase Physical Heaven at Radical Notion Digital

Topspin: Marketing With Data

by stinson on May 17, 2010

This one is from a just a little while back – about three months ago. Shamal Ranasinghe, co-founder of Topspin Media, did a presentation on Managing, Measuring, and Marketing With Data at the MidemNet Academy. He then published the presentation as a blog post on the Topspin blog.

The post highlights some of the features of the Topspin platform, and gives examples of methods to best collect and use data to make extremely targeted marketing decisions.

It blew my mind.

If you are involved in the marketing aspect of the music industry in any way, you need to study this blog post. Make sure you download the slideshow too.

Nashville Flood

May 7, 2010

It’s been an intense and surreal moment in Nashville for the past week. Never seen anything like this here. Such an incredible amount of flooding – areas which are never subject to any kind of flooding became lakes and rivers. I feel incredibly lucky that I came out unscathed. A few of my friends did [...]

Small Black “Despicable Dogs” Video

May 1, 2010

This one blipped a little while ago, but it just hit my radar nonetheless. Was poking around on Stereogum this morning, and came across a link to the video for “Despicable Dogs” by the band Small Black. Could the name perhaps be some kind of reference to Steve Albini’s band, Big Black? In any case [...]
